THE STORY
Captain Moriah has one job: create the first map of the world. See, a mysterious storm called the Zyphoon changed what the land looks like (and the people, for that matter). So no one knows what is where and why anymore! It’s up to her to fly from island to island, finding out who lives there and what the culture is like.
Easy enough. And as long as she works for the Spyglass City Committee, she gets to keep her airship, the Tesleon. It’s kind of the only thing she has left. SQUAWK! Okay, that and her black-feathered parrot, Lookout.
Even though she’s kinda a loner by nature, Moriah forms a fast friendship with her mechanic Dwii and her cartographer/naviagtor Benni. But at the end of the first episode, she uncovers a secret that not only changes the course of her mission but threatens to test the limit of her friendships.
The Project
“Captain Moriah’s Map of the World” is a 10-episode animated series created by Sarah Fiete. However, the “every episode is a new island” structure of the show lends itself to plenty of filler episodes that can build out the world. While the first season is written and concludes the main arc, it leaves the door open for more.
Seed funding provided by Midnight Oil Collective has gone towards two key elements:
1) concept art for the pitch deck
2) an eight-minute animatic adapted from the opening of Episode 1
